Probably the biggest news for the 2019 race season at ERP is that we will be hosting a new Summit Bracket Finals on September 5-8. This is a race that racers from ERP and 7 other Midwest race tracks will be able to send up to two 25 car teams from their bracket race points series to compete for some outstanding purses and a chance to advance to the IHRA Summit World Finals in Memphis. This along with the fact that IHRA has offered the tracks a new class called Sportsman with all of the benefits of the Summit Super Series makes this a very exciting year for our bracket racers. We will have 5 classes competing for points at each of our 17 points races, Top, Mod, Footbrake, Sportsman, and Jr Advanced.

Bracket racers will have a big dollar race for all 4 points bracket classes on Aug. 3 & 4 thanks to Driskell Racing Engines along with the normal big purses on the holiday weekends for Top and Mod. On June 23 we will have the IHRA Iron Man Classic with racers in Top, Mod, Footbrake, Sportsman, & Jr Advanced all competing for a coveted IHRA Iron Man trophy.

Special classes will run on select events during the year including the Quick Performance Midwest Pro Outlaw, Advanced Transmission Top Sportsman/Top Dragster, Sweet Corn Outlaws, North Central Super Street Series, R/J Performance Street Bike Series, Teen Championship Racing, a Mopar Special, Midnight Madness, Box/No Box bike races, and pit vehicle races.

Details on the event will be published soon but racers will be competing for IHRA Ironman trophies and a chance to compete at the IHRA Summit Super series in Memphis for a national championship in Top, Mod, and Jr Dragster classes. So racers if you do not have an IHRA membership and X number get those soon and be sure to get signed up for points at one of the listed tracks so you can attend this event.

Sadly we have decided to not fight mother nature any more this year. The latest forecasts for this Saturday Oct. 20 have the highest temps for the day being 50 degrees or less with 30 plus mph winds makes for marginal conditions to run in even though there is no chance of rain. Sunday is not enough better to move it there and with the cold nights we are having we need to winterize our buildings before we have pipes freezing. We are so tired of dealing with these tough weather related decisions especially since we could certainly use any cash flow as we have only ran 3 days out of the last 10 scheduled race days but safety is of 1st concern and it would not be a lot of fun trying to race in this cold and windy weather.

Watch our Facebook and Website for any announcements concerning next year`s race season and save the date March 2 for our awards banquet in Des Moines. Thanks for the support this year of our racers, spectators and sponsors, as we need all to be successful. As always we are very open to any and all suggestions and ideas for next season. Please contact Gerald at manager@eddyvilleraceway.com or call or text him at 641-780-3534 with any questions or ideas as we are working on next seasons schedule right now.

Mother Nature seems to not like racing lately and even though we don`t trust the weatherman most of the time we have to trust them sometimes. Every forecast out there shows lots of rain and not very warm temps for the next 4 days. We have decided to give our racers and employees time to make alternate plans for this weekend and have cancelled all races for Saturday and Sunday Oct. 6 & 7.

We are looking at doing some kind of event at ERP on Oct. 18 or 19. This will depend on availability of employees etc. Details will be coming if we can make something work for that date and the weather gets better. We know lots of racers would love to have another chance to go racing and we could certainly use another race day or 2. Watch our Facebook page and website for any updates on these possible races.

With very cold temperatures forecasted for this Saturday night we have decided to combine The Midnight Madness event with the R/J Performance Fun Day on Sunday as temps should be a lot warmer making for a much safer event. Also the cost to racers will be cheaper as test and tune will be $20 and all crew and spectators get in free thanks to R/J Performance in Ottumwa ! Gates will open at 9am and being on track at 10am to 3pm. We will run regular test and tune out of lanes 1 & 2, and instant green starts with clocks off out of lanes 3 & 4. There will not be any Fast Four classes run. This is also the last points race for the R/J Performance Street Bike class.

Eddyville Raceway Park has days available to rent the facility for many types of usage including the use of the drag strip or for other functions that could make use of the rest of the facility but not the race track. Now is the time to set these up before all of our events are planned. Events using the track in most cases will be on a Friday night, Saturday or Sunday.
