Good luck with that.

I would love this to be true, but the time it will take to make trade deals outside the EU and the less good conditions there will be between us and the EU, especially for our critically important financial sector, are the problems here.

We are rich as a country because of our financial services.U s anti money laundering laws it is obvious we don’t make much stuff to export. What we export are financial services. We are the most convenient bridge between the rest of the world and europe, because of the tax and trading advantages we have from being inside the EU.

If we are outside the EU, that is gone, unless we accept free movement, which anti-immigration people do not want.

But remain did not make this clear in the campaign, because it contains two statements that would be very unpopular- 1) we depend on our banks and other financial institutions that are in the city of london and 2) we won’t be able to control immigration.

Instead, the likelihood is we will be significantly poorer after about 4-5 years. But I hope not.
